A. I was sent here from council, a place far away and I came here for one reason. To attack questions and keep coming. Not to ask but just to give. Not to want but just to send, send the power of the Rudy down everybody s throats at Yahoo Answers until they become sick of it. Well you re going to get sick of it, Sean. Because this freak of nature right here is just beginning to swell, and when I get big enough brother, there ain t gonna be room for anybody else but me and all the Rudys floating through the veins, that s the power of the RUDY!

A. Follow the top radiator hose and it will lead you to it. If that's not it though, try the water pump (it will probably be losing water from underneath the front of the car..looks like A/C drainage almost). Make sure you check all fluid levels..low levels could cause friction=heat.

How do you replace the fog light on a 2004 outback wagon?
Q. Owners manual says take it to the dealership. Is it really that hard to do? It looks likes there are some screws in there but they might just be aiming screws. Do you have to remove the bumper? I love the unique big, round look of those fog lights, but I'm very frustrated with the non-DIY design. Any tips, suggestions, personal experiences are welcome of course!

How do you replace the rear hatch struts on a 2001 Subaru outback wagon?
Q. I have a newish pair of struts to replace my bad ones. Looks like the top attachment is pressed in. Are they easy to pop our or will I need a special tool?
Asked by saintlydancer - Thu Nov 13 13:00:12 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Do you have replacement factory ones? And did they not come with the entire piece that attaches to the body with bolts? On the ones I have done, if it is after market you drill out the OEM attachment point on the bracket and run a nut & bolt through the eye of the new strut. So if you don't see a way to get it detached, you might need to do that and run a nut & bolt. You need to be careful of the size of bolt head and outer diameter of the nut and the length of the bolt to make sure it does not interfere with the hatch when it closes.

Q. What is the price of a rear passenger door for a 2000 subaru outback wagon?
Asked by Michael D - Sat Dec 6 06:03:30 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. i just destroyed the right rear door on our outback and we took it to the dealership to be repaired. they had to replace the door and according to the bill it was $578.95. That was for a new unpainted door. Total cost of the entire repair (they reused the molding and window, etc) was $1767.25. It would probably be a couple hundred cheaper if you had a non-dealer do the repair but they may not be genuine Subaru replacement parts.

My car seat doesn't fit great in my car. We have a subaru outback wagon?
Q. Does anybody have the same issues. My husband can't drive with her sitting behind him or in the middle. The seat only fits behind the passenger side which is still a tight squeeze.

A. That's just the way it is in a lot of cars, if you get your carseat installed by the police they will tell you that is why you see so many moms riding in the back! Lucky for me I am 5'2" so I am not too squashed, but it is still tight!

Brake problems \on my Subaru Outback wagon!?
Q. Ive got a 2001 Subaru outback wagon and I've got a potentially dangerous problem with the brakes. when i start it up on a cold morning (below freezing) it takes about a minute for the brakes to start working at their full potential. the brake pedal is very hard to push down, and the car doeskin want to stop, until about 1 minute of driving. after that they brakes work fine. any one know whats wrong and if it is still safe to drive?
Asked by Stephen B - Fri Jan 16 18:36:57 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Its the round plastic valve on your brake booster (on the driver's side firewall, the part the large vacuum hose goes to). Condensation gets in there, and the valve freezes shut when its super cold out (no vacuum assist, like manual brakes, only worse). It's not safe to drive like that, you won't be able to stop quick enough. They are cheap, and easy to replace, just pry the old one out and tap the new one in. Happened on my Outback too.

A. Both are 5X100 bolt pattern so they will fit. Brake clearance is also not an issue. Only difference is the offset is a few mm different but that won't even be noticeable.

A. That means you are misfiring. If it is continuing I would stop driving it and get it in to be looked at as soon as possible. A misfire can be something small but if it's doing it continuously, you could be doing some damage.

Advice on used wagon for long road trips to California desert?
Q. A situation has come up for my family, and we need to make regular trips from SF to Coachella Valley (I,000 miles RT throughout seasons of the year). I want to find an inexpensive, rock-solid reliable used station wagon to take two kids and a dog, often overnight on long drive south. Can't get stranded and need good gas mileage if possible. Based on preliminary research, it's looking like a Camry, Accord, or Outback wagon would be best. Any advice on these or other used wagons for this purpose? Thanks!
Asked by John - Tue Aug 25 16:52:43 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I have taken my 2004 Focus wagon all through the deserts in California. And before that my 1988 Dodge Aries wagon. All over the Mojave in hot, hot weather. Really, any modern car is fine for the desert as long as you are not off roading with it. And by the way, no make of car can be said to never strand anyone. This morning on my way to work in Orange County there was a person stranded by the road in a newer E class Mercedes Benz.

A. It never ceases to amaze me how many ignorant idiots post answers on this page. A Subaru doesn't have a distributor cap. The coils are bullet- proof. It sounds exactly like an injector problem. It is really easy to check. Go to the #2 cylinder injector( passenger side front of car) Unplug the injector plug from the injector while the car is running. If you see no change in idle, that is the problem. You can go one step further and swap the # 2 with one of the other injectors. if the problem moves, that is it.

Which car is better, Subaru Outback wagon or Subaru Legacy sedan?
Q. For the year 2007.
Asked by Scotty2247 - Tue Jun 5 15:45:24 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If you like good ride and handling, the Legacy would have an edge over the Outback. It's also lighter, less expensive, more fuel-efficient and faster (although the difference is pretty small). However, if you carry a lot of cargo or go off paved roads, the Outback wagon would be better, without question. There's really not a huge difference in driving them. However, my preference would actually be a regular Legacy wagon, which (unfortunately) is being discontinued in the US. It combines the handling, lower price and better fuel economy of the Legacy sedan with the cargo capacity and versatility of the Outback.

A. I bought one recently - like this past Saturday - and I love it! So, I've owned it for FIVE whole days. I do feel qualified to answer your question though and I'll tell you why. In June 2006 I went car shopping with the expectation of coming home with a Forester, but after 8 years in a Honda Accord, the Forester was just too small and had too choppy a ride for me. I was drawn to a 2006 Outback and took it out for a drive. Now THIS was more like it. It is quite comparable to the Accord as far as size and ride. It doesn't have QUITE as many little nooks and cubbies for storage, but otherwise it was a seamless transition for me. A couple of controls work differently, but overall it is very similar. The only "problem" with this car was the… [cont.]

A. Man, go to mysubie.com & see what the rest of us Legacy owners feel about our rides. You have to realize that AWD cars don't get as good gas mileage as FWD or RWD cars w/ the same size engine. The toss up is the gripy, surefooted traction of AWD. The difference In mileage is only 2-4 MPG. It's also a very safe & reliable car that can easily reach 3-400k mi. w/o any problem. There are However things to look for. Twin cam vs single cam. Twin cam engines don't get as good mileage as single cam engines and tend to have head gasket problems. If you can find 1 that has had the head gasket replaced, cool. I have 1 of each, a 93 Legacy wagon w/ 250k mi & a 97 Legacy Outback w/ 214k mi on it & so far the only problems I've had were the 1s I've… [cont.]

A. Ha ha! Welcome to the magic world of subaru interchangability! They made a few manuals that year, they are just few and far between. The auto and manual trans use the same bellhousing and would fit. Other things you need to change: -Final drive (rear diff) to match the center diff ratio -Longer driveshaft about 2" difference -Clutch pedal bolts right in, just need to run the line and bypass the park nuetral switch or wire in a clutch safty switch -and the manual shifter assembly. an experianced subaru tech could do the swap in a day without too much trouble. If you really want to have fun, do a manual swap weld up the center diff, leave the front cv joint caps on where they slip onto the trans and have your output shaft hardened and… [cont.]

A. Yes they still do. However, they are awesome cars. Subarus have this weird reputation for being old person cars... while they have more racing history than many other makes. They are extremely durable, reliable, and handle awesome. You being 16 makes it a great car for you - it's safe, easy to drive, but fun at the same time :) I can almost guarantee that you will be a Subaru owner for life after driving it.
