What does the donkey and the elefant represent, how is it related to how the 2 major parties work?
Q. Can someone tell what is the meaning of the Donkey for Democrats and the Elefant for Republicans?

A. The now-famous Democratic donkey was first associated with Democrat Andrew Jackson's 1828 presidential campaign. His opponents called him a jackass (a donkey), and Jackson decided to use the image of the strong-willed animal on his campaign posters. Later, cartoonist Thomas Nast used the Democratic donkey in newspaper cartoons and made the symbol famous. Nast invented another famous symbol the Republican elephant. In a cartoon that appeared in Harper's Weekly in 1874, Nast drew a donkey clothed in lion's skin, scaring away all the animals at the zoo. One of those animals, the elephant, was labeled The Republican Vote. That's all it took for the elephant to become associated with the Republican Party. Democrats today say the donkey is… [cont.]

How can I persuade my caro sposo to purchase a donkey?
Q. In a country life a donkey is a necessity. In winter there is dirt, in summer there is dust. I and dear Jane (my new friend) would have had our rides together. But my caro sposo won't be put into any additional expense. Though Selina would have approved thoroughly. How can I make him see reason?

How can I teach my mini donkey to bow? Or any other cool tricks?
Q. I have a mini donkey named Cozy. I really want to teach her a cool trick, like how to bow. She is pretty smart. Can anyone tell me how to do it? I think I have the basic idea, I would just like other peoples opinions. Also, if you know any other cool tricks, that would be nice. She is not trained to ride or anything, so nothing like that.

A. Start by teaching your mini donkey to pick up its feet (if she doesn't already know how to). Then take a treat and make her take it from between her front legs without stepping backwards.Do not give her the treat unless she does what you have asked of her. When she does this without any problems pick up one of her front feet and continue as before. Then slowly work at pulling her back while making sure the treat slowly gets harder and harder to reach. She should stretch back with her head between her front legs to get the treat and with you having one of her legs up continue until she leans back and down far enough that the knee of the leg you are holding is almost touching the ground and that is a bow. Praise her continuously when she… [cont.]

How does one actually kill one thousand men with the jawbone of a donkey?

A. Well actually it was "GOD" who did it... No seriously - Samson was just the robot. God was behind the controls. But God killed people all the time, so it should be of no surprise. personally, I don't why SAMSON was in the story at all, he just kinda made it slower, I MEAN, if I am reading the story right - it would take about six hours to kill 1,000 men with the jawbone of a donkey (typical combat scenario) So, what I'm imagining REALLY happened, was that GOD made the Jawbone really, really, really horrendous, like that ghost on the RING who kills people with mere scary-ness. So GOD must have just put a lot of scary-ness in that jawbone so that it's very presence killed them - or maybe it was a bunch of pew-pew death rays like on Dr.… [cont.]

How many police officers does it take to get a donkey off the highway?
Q. This is actually a true story.. a donkey got through the fence by a major highway and police came to respond from three counties and it took them a while to get this belligerent donkey under control and off the highway. So how many police officers do you think it took and why?
Asked by Malanie2U - Thu Jan 8 17:16:35 2009 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments
A. First of all, I doubt the donkey appreciated the attention, and I doubt it was cooperated with their efforts. Secondly, patrol cars have nothing in them to deal with livestock loose on the road.

How did the Pin the Tail on the Donkey game originate?
Q. My games, like London Bridges, have some meaning or history behind them. What is pinning the tail on the Donkey supposed to mean?
Asked by Brian E - Thu Dec 6 06:27:45 2007 - - 2 Answers - 1 Comments
A. Think about the childhood game we have all played or seen at one time or another - Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Did you ever wonder where it might have originated? Our bet is on a phenomenon that occasionally crops up in donkeys. Some donkeys (in all sizes) are born with no tail, or only a short nub. Donkeys have tails that resemble a cows - long bone, covered in short body hair, with a switch or tassel at the end. Horse's tails have long hair covering the entire tailbone. The draft horses and carriage horses of times past actually had the tails docked (cut off) to prevent the tail hair from becoming tangled in the harnesses. Docking is not done on most breeds any more, and is in fact illegal in some countries. So if you see a… [cont.]

What kind of donkey to use for work?
Q. I think I need some donkeys to pull my firewood. I'm talking about pulling cut logs, 5-8' long, and up to 2' in diameter. It is in a heavily wooded area, where I can't get a vehicle. What kind of donkey do I need?

A. I would say use mules actually... You need to find a well broke team of draft mules. People use mules all the time for this, as well as draft horses. As far as donkeys, even mammoths aren't big enough for the job you are wanting.

Should a horse and a donkey be considered the same species?

Nerja Donkey Sanctuary needs 20000 to stay open. How can it raise this money quickly?

A. The credit crunch is conveniently used as an excuse for just about everything today but has little to do with charitable contributions. You should have a solid donor base that can be relied upon. If not, the charity was already in trouble. Sorry but that's just how is works in charitable contributions and operating 503(c)e organizations.

Q. we have a miniture donkey farm and one of our donkeys is pregnate. and we don't know when this happend. cuz the last time we put them out to pasture with the males was in the summer and she had a baby then. so we highly doubt that she could have gone into heat well haveing a baby by her side. but we don't know. and if she did get pregent over the summer we expect the baby to come in april or may. plez help.

A. Well to start off horses and donkeys go in to whats called a foal heat a little while after they give birth. So she probably got pregnant then. As for how to tell when shes about ready to foal, keep an eye on her "bag" (udder whatever you wanna call it). she'll start to leak some here and there. But watch for when theres a waxy like bead on her teat thats a sign she near. When shes really close her tail, at the dock, will get mushy and very flexible. there are also foaling predictors available where you take a drop of blood from her muzzle and it can teel you if she close also. Just keep a very close eye on her and you'll notice her changes.
